Nurturing Together

Picture
MTPC is like many congregations that are small in size, but great in their passion to be faithful disciples.  At MTPC, part of the passion means working together with partner agencies to help many in need.  But this is only one piece of the puzzle in our congregation.  Growing in faith is equally important, for without faith seeking understanding, we are no longer a church.
The same is true for our personal lives.  We may be actively involved in worship and service to others, but without taking time for prayer and study, a piece of our puzzle is missing.  There are many ways to fill that puzzle piece, but none as great as gathering with others for study and conversation.  It is a common conception that faith is personal, and therefore growing one's faith is something done in solitude.  While private study time is certainly valuable, it can be greatly enhanced by a group study.  As a pastor for nearly 30 years, I know that studying with others is a powerful time of sharing and contemplating Scripture.  One person's life experience can bring a fresh perspective while another's can bring tradition and scholarship to the conversation.  Together, a group study can deepen one's faith and enrich our lives.
What are some opportunities you can find for a group study?  Perhaps a book group, a Bible study, a Sunday school class.  Find a place to dig into the God's word together and discover an exciting new path to spiritual growth.
